The Rivermaid is a well known and loved passenger ferry which worked the waters of the Kingsbridge to Salcombe estuary, occasionally further afield, for many years. Much loved by both locals and holiday makers.
She carried a maximum of 100 customers in her 25 tonnes. Specifically built for the Kingsbridge estuary for its owner Peter Moule to cope with the shallow waters of the estuary. Since before the Herald of Free Enterprise accident, even smaller ferries are carefully checked and monitored. She was checked and licensed annually by the Maritime Coastguard Agency carrying Class V and Class V1 Certificates. Built between 1994 – 1995 by Bailey Voyager Yachts coming into service in 1997.
In recent years her owner Peter has spent more time in New Zealand and with something of a heavy heart this month sold the vessel to Plymouth based owners.
We are pleased to have helped Peter and his work for many years. Finally, to have assisted in the ultimate sale of this much loved and iconic passenger ferry.
